The residential area near the 30-meter wide dry lake adjacent to the southern port city of Loryma in the south of Marmaris can be accessed via sea transportation. After the two-hour voyage ending in the Bozukkale port, the ruins are reached with a climb of two hours.
As a result of the scientific research carried out in 1995 by Dr. Zeynep Kuban and Dr.Turgut Saner, a temple whose altar is preserved, theater buildings and ruins of five other buildings whose functions are not known exactly yet were identified. Furthermore, it can be explained by this research that stele-like blocks found in this region may be settled into the hollows on the large rectangular blocks as well as region-specific, stepped pyramid tombs. Another grave type encountered in this area is the burial chambers made of large blocks of stones covered with caps in the form of gable roof.
It is expressed by researchers that the center could have been used as a meeting and cult center by city groups paying taxes to the Attica Sea Union, which is thought to be in the Bozburun Peninsula.
