The area covered by the geography of Marmaris houses dozens of villages and settlement units today. The situation was no different in ancient times.
Each of these settlement units having different importance has been the port of the Carian civilization or grape, wine, olive, olive oil, honey and beeswax production centers depending on their respective location. These settlements which were villages or called deme in that period consist of necropolis, temples, theaters, olive/wine presses and residential areas.
According to the data we obtained from the Museum Directorate of Marmaris, the settlements in and around Marmaris are as follows: Physkos (Beldibi, Asartepe), Amos (Hisarönü, Turunç), Bybassos (Hisarönü), Kastabos (Hisarönü), Syrna (Bayır Village), Larymna (Bozburun), Thyssanos (Söğüt), Phoenix (Taşlıca), Loryma (Bozukkale), Kasara (Serçe Port), Kedrai (Sedir Island), Hydas (Kamışlı Bay-Turgut Village), Euthena and Amnistos (Karacasöğüt).
